Whitney Houston and Dana Bash

Whitney Elizabeth Houston (born 9 August 1993 in Newark New Jersey) is the child of gospel superstar Cissy Houston. The mother of Whitney and Whitney began singing professionally in the church of New Hope Baptist in Newark when Whitney was only fifteen years old. They sang backing vocals on Chaka Kans' hit song from 1978 Im Every Woman. Then she went on to perform backing vocals for Lou Rawls and Jermaine and her mother. Beginning in 1981, she started working as a singer in the New York funk group Material. It was her excellent vocals that attracted interest of recording labels including Arista. The debut Whitney Houston album was released in 1985. It was one of the top-selling album by a musician. From the album, she released several hit singles including Saving All My Love for You How Do You Know You're Good to Love? and The Greater Love of All. This led to her achieving seven US Number Ones in a row. She beat even the Beatles. The album came out in 1987, and it sold over 25 million copies worldwide. The Whitney 1987 record, featuring the songs Where Do Broken Hearts and I Wanna Dance With Somebody as songs, helped to build on her success. However, it was The Bodyguard 1992 which cemented her status as one of the top artists around the globe. Although the film and her performances on screen were not widely reviewed, the soundtrack album as well as her rendition to the Dolly Parton song I Will Always Love You made the charts for albums and singles for months. It sold more than 44 million copies around the world. That same year she married the former New Edition singer Bobby Brown with whom she was the sole parent of their daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown in March 1993.
